One of Canada’s long standing institutions that dates back its opening in 1916, SAIT or the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology is a polytechnic institute in Alberta with 9 schools of unique specializations that hones the next generation of industry leaders.

With over 100 years of proven quality education, the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology has lived up to its name as “technology” itself. SAIT graduates are always a hot sell in the labor market, with a strong 91% employability rate – not to mention an incredible number of roughly 11,000 industry partners that helps blur the line between being a fresh SAIT graduate to becoming a professional. Moreover, these generous industry partners make sure that they invest in the future by sponsoring and giving away scholarships and grants of around $5 millions in total for almost every program. The awards and grants are open to all qualifying SAIT students based on their academic success, community participation, co curricular activities and financial need. There are over 60 student awards available at SAIT as of July 2021 (see full list at the end of the article).

“SAIT was the perfect fit for my career progression. A quick background story,
my aunt and uncle are currently living in Calgary and it was our intention (my
husband and I) to reunite with them. Conveniently, as Calgary is located in Alberta

which is well-known for its oil and gas industries, choosing Calgary as our city of
destination also aligned with my career plan – to work in chemical industries.”
So, I decided to re-enter the academe after 10 years of being away and
familiarize myself with the updates in chemical technology. Way back in 2017, SAIT
is the only school that offered the program that fit my needs – basic chemistry

refresher with practical hands-on experience that will equip me for the Canadian job
market, all in just 2 years. On top of this, Chemical Laboratory Technology diploma
program also has the option of a 1-year paid job placement, an excellent opportunity
to connect with future employers while earning money on the side. Further
research only strengthened my decision of studying at SAIT. This institution is a
perfect place for mature students like me who aims to learn industry-specific skills.”

Through her academic excellence and outstanding performance, she was able to bag 4 student awards and/or grants namely the following:
Student Awardee by Calfrac Well Services Ltd. in January 2019
Student Award for Academic Achievement by Canadian Society for Chemical
Technology (CSCT) in March 2019
Chemistry Staff Award for Highest Grade Achievement by SAIT MacPhail School
of Energy in December 2018
Student Grant by SAITSA in AY 2018-2019
